About Us

Wilmington University’s Computer and Network Security (CNS) Bachelor of Science program curriculum was submitted for certification to the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) through the National Security Agency’s National IA Education and Training Program (NIETP). The NIETP has assessed the curriculum of our Computer and Network Security program and granted courseware certification to the Committee on National Security Systems National Standards 4011 and 4013E. Program Coordinator Mark Hufe and faculty members David Houser, Chris Shanahan, and Anthony Carcillo worked diligently on the mapping of our CNS curriculum to the standards of the National Security Agency. Their efforts in obtaining courseware certification will greatly enhance the curriculum for students in the program who are learning to protect vital infrastructure.

Only at Wilmington University

Although computer and networking security is an emerging academic field across the nation, local institutions have yet to offer such a program in its entirety. Wilmington University is the only institution to offer the Bachelor of Science in Computer and Network Security in the area.

A Great Job Outlook

Computer and Network Security is projected as the second fastest growing occupation by the United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) from 2002 to 2012. The BLS projects a 59 percent increase in the occupation for workers with a bachelor’s degree. According to the Delaware Department of Labor, Computer Support Specialists (the closest related category to Computer and Network Security Specialist) are expected to grow by 55 percent from 1998 to 2008.
